A little beach villa of unpretentious style, our Merchant’s Cottage is fashioned after a traditional middle-class home of olden Sri Lanka. Back then, merchants were well regarded. Whilst their homes were never grand, their relative wealth could afford luxuries.Creating our version of it, we retained that authenticity as much as we could, whilst including the 21st century must-haves in a seamless way.
Flanked by trees, the cottage spreads across two stories. The long upper balconies with dark wooden floors have plenty of room. So has the veranda on the ground floor. The rooms are airy and cool, and the unusual brick-stone floor also helps to beat the daytime heat. The colours are natural and earthy, complementing the antique style furniture. This is a cottage of quiet elegance, where a sense of peace pervades the air.
